The FMA at the School of Mary (Art. 79)

The Virgin with Baby Jesus and St. John the Baptist is an iconographic theme which is typical of Christian art.  Between the end of the XV century and the beginning of the XVI, it received the attention of the Italian masters: Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello Sanzio, and Michelangelo Buonarroti.  In this depiction by Raffaello, we can see how Mary cares for the two children: tender and sweet, she expresses her motherliness to each of them.  At the same time, we can see John the Baptist expressing total trust in Mary and pious admiration for Baby Jesus.  We recall that John the Baptist was the first to perceive in Mary Jesus’ Divine Presence through the work of the Holy Spirit: his mother Elizabeth realized it when he leapt in her womb!  Elizabeth “caught” it and was filled with the Holy Spirit, as Luke recounts (1:41-44).

La FMA à l’Ecole de Marie (Const.art. 79)

La Vierge avec le Bébé et le petit Saint Jean Baptiste est un thème iconographique typique de l’art chrétien. Entre la fin du XVème et le début du XVIème siècle, la question a retenu l’attention des maîtres italiens : Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello Sanzio et Michelangelo Buonarroti. Dans cette peinture de Raffaello, nous pouvons voir comment Marie prend soin des deux enfants : tendre et douce exprime sa maternité envers les deux. En même temps, nous pouvons reconnaître dans le petit Jean Baptiste sa confiance totale en Marie et la pieuse admiration pour Jésus. Rappelons-nous que Jean Baptiste a été le premier à percevoir la présence divine de Jésus en Marie par l’action de l’Esprit Saint: Sa maman Elisabeth ne se rend compte que quand Jean sursaute dans son ventre! Elisabeth en fut envahie et fut pleine de l’Esprit Saint, comme Luc nous le raconte (1, 41, 44)

La FMA en la Escuela de María (art. 79)

La Virgen con el Niño y San Juanito Bautista es un tema iconográfico en el arte cristiano. A finales del siglo XV y comienzos del XVI el tema recibió la atención de grandes maestros italianos: Sandro Boticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael Sanzio y Miguel Ángel Buonarroti. En este icono de Rafael, podemos contemplar cómo María cuida a los dos niños, exhala tierna y dulcemente su maternidad para ambos y a la vez, percibimos en Juanito Bautista su total confianza en María y su admiración piadosa por Jesús. Recordemos que Juan Bautista fue el primero en percibir la presencia divina de Jesús en María por obra del Espíritu Santo: ¡Su mamá Isabel se dio cuenta cuando él saltó de alegría en su vientre! Y en ese momento ¡Isabel fue “contagiada” y quedó llena del Espíritu Santo!, como nos cuenta Lucas (1, 41-44).
