5.  The Powerful Help against the Enemy – Judith 13:11-20

The Faces of Mary in Sacred Scripture

The book of Judith presents us with an exemplary account, a kind of parable, having the purpose of nourishing the faith and courage of the Israelites oppressed under Hellenistic domination.  The story is developed in three scenes: in the first sweeping act, the principal personages are introduced onto the stage. (vss. 1-7) In the second, the central act, the drama is dominated by the fully-detailed figure of Judith (vss. 8-13). Powerful is the scene of Holofernes’ little feast and the boldness of the widow who cuts off the head of the general with one blow of the scimitar.  In the third and final act (vss. 14-16), there is the celebration for the heroine.

4.  La Madre che porta in sé il Salvatore -L’Arca dell’Alleanza (2Sam 6,1-2.9-15)

I volti di Maria nella Scrittura

Dio accompagna il suo popolo fedelmente, non si stanca mai di essere presente. Nell’Antico Testamento, l’arca dell’alleanza è il simbolo di questa presenza di Dio in mezzo al suo popolo. Un simbolo che si concretizza nel Nuovo Testamento con la vera arca dell’alleanza che è una persona viva: è la Vergine Maria. Dio ha scelto Maria per essere la nova arca, che porta nel suo grembo il Figlio di Dio fatto uomo, Gesù nostro salvatore.

4.  La Madre que lleva en sí al Salvador –El arca de la alianza

Los rostros de María en la Escritura

Dios acompaña a su pueblo fielmente, no se cansa jamás de estar presente. En el Antiguo Testamento, el arca de la alianza es el símbolo de esta presencia de Dios en medio de su pueblo. Un símbolo que se concretiza en el Nuevo Testamento con la verdadera arca de la alianza que es una persona viva: es la Virgen María. Dios ha elegido a María para ser la nueva arca, que lleva en su vientre al Hijo de Dios hecho hombre, Jesús nuestro salvador.
